Tony LaArgo

One of these days I'm going to grow up and become mature and responsible, but so far the goal has eluded me. I've spent most of my life playing at first one thing, then another. And I'm still not sure what I want to do with my life. I have been told that I need to decide quickly, before it's too late. Hmmmm.

The Marine Corps was interesting, and it did give me an opportunity to see a few parts of the world that I would otherwise have missed. I'm proud to have been a Marine, but I couldn't wait to get out! Too many orders!

After the Marine Corps, I tried college. Went to Chico State for a year and a half and ran into Sharon Chez on my way to class. Nice to see an old friend. She was running the place! Found college too hard. Working part-time) for minimum wage and attending class was not fun, so I started looking for a job.

It seemed the California Highway Patrol was looking for a few good men, so I tried that for a few years. Loved the high-speed chases! Spent a year in San Francisco then got assigned back to the Ontario area. Even ran into one of our classmates one night. Don't think he remembered me. (He was a little intoxicated! LOL)

After that I went o work for Kaiser Steel for a while and on the side got involved in a little real estate. The timing was right since ALL real estate was going through the roof. Even I could make a couple of bucks.

During this time I had been attending Chaffey College and had managed to pick-up a few more credits (a little over 400). Took everything from algebra to zoology. Ran into another classmate of ours in the Chaffey Theatre Department; Pat Winkler (Skinner). She was, and is, the head of the costume department. Had a lot of fun in the theatre department and decided to go back to college and get a degree in Theatre Arts.

Went to Humboldt State in the fall of '83 and graduated in the spring of '84. taking classes while not having to work was great! So, I stayed aroung for another year in the Master's program.

Spent the next few years in the Hollywood area auditioning for roles. Ha! (Don't call us, we'll call you!) Since I couldn't get to be famous, I decided I better find a real job.

Went to work for the Los Angeles County Office of Education as a teacher in the juvenile halls. And found the COMPUTER! Went back for a M.A in Computer Based Education. Not sure if any of my students learned anything, but I had a great time!

Retired from teaching this year and am looking forward to . . . . .?
